On Saturdays we have our cheer academy a unique fusion of street dance and cheerleading. We combine the two to bring you this exciting style from the UKCA (United Kingdom Cheerleading Association). We use cheer vocals and pom poms to deliver high energy fun classes with a team spirit. These classes are fantastic for confidence building and team work.
A typical lesson would involve a warm up dance, stretching and conditioning, game (younger classes) practicing cheer skills like jumps and arm drills. Like in dance we learn a routine over a series of lessons until it is finished ready for performing. We also use chants and cheer vocals throughout.
Every few weeks we have our tumble track out which the children love as we can safely assist them in learning tumbling skills such as forward and backwards roles, cartwheels and flips. Once confident these can then be added to routines.
Our cheer groups take part in the local Croft carnival each year which is a huge community event. The children get to walk in the procession chanting and cheering and then perform in the events arena. It is really a fantastic day for all involved. In addition to this we have a fundraising performance at the end of January to showcase what they have learnt whilst raising funds for the academy for any equipment to further enhance tution. Last year we bought the air track.
In addition to our regualr cheer classes we offer the opportunity for children to join our competition teams (providing spaces are avaliable). They are non selective and are great for those who are loving cheer and wanting to take it a step further. The competitions are so much fun! We enter approximately five a year.
Twice annually the children are assessed on their cheer skills in our cheer awards and have a chance to recieve a report, certificate and medal for all their efforts. We also have a trophy which is awarded at the end of each half term to a cheerleader who is trying really hard.
These classes are for children age 3 – 16 years. Competition teams are from 5 years.

We know that kids after school activites add up, especially if you have more than one child. To make Legends as affordable as possible payments are pro-rated annually.
